Porsche to offer wireless EV charging on next-gen Cayenne

Porsche today announced it will become the first major automaker to offer inductive charging for its electric vehicles. Like the wireless cradles that charge cell phones, now common in automotive interiors, Porsche will offer an 11-kilowatt inductive charger to effortlessly replenish your EV’s battery by just parking over it. Porsche’s upcoming EV Cayenne — which will also boast the ability to manage 400-kilowatt DC fast-charging — will be Stuttgart’s first electric vehicle that will not require a “plug” for charging, with the inductive charging available as an option on that model.

Polestar 3 sets EV SUV record driving 935.44 km on single charge

An unmodified Polestar 3 has set the Guinness World Record for longest journey travelled by an electric SUV on a single charge. The Long Range single-motor model travelled 935.44 kilometres (581.3 miles) on a full battery over U.K. public roads. The journey took 22 hours and 57 minutes, and the Polestar 3 achieved an efficiency of 12.1 kWh/100 km (19.5 kWh/100 miles) and averaged 40 km/h (25 mph). More impressive is the fact the real-world record was set in mixed weather conditions, including rain. The drivers — Sam Clarke, Kevin Booker, and Richard Parker — switched every three hours.
