Cybertruck At Vancouver Auto Show

Tesla Cybertruck

Tesla returns to the Vancouver Auto Show — and they’re bringing the Cybertruck with them.

The futuristic-looking Cybertruck, designed to tackle any terrain with a range of up to 547 kilometres on a single charge, will be making its first-ever appearance at the Vancouver Auto Show, the centrepiece of a Tesla display that will also feature its 2024 vehicle roster.

Durable and rugged, the Cybertruck is made with an ultra-hard stainless-steel exoskeleton that helps reduce dents, damage and long-term corrosion. Shatter-resistant armour glass can resist the impact of a baseball at 112 km/h, of Class 4 hail. The glass is also acoustic, shutting out ambient exterior noise and making the cabin as quiet as outer space. With a top speed of 209 km/h, it hits 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds. On the worksite, haul everything you need with 1,134 kg payload and 4,990 kg towing capacity — the equivalent of an average African elephant. The super-tough composite bed doesn’t need a liner and is big enough for 4’ x 8’ construction materials.

Also coming from Tesla are:

Model S
Designed to be the most fun you can have in a car: The fastest acceleration (zero to 100 km/h in 2.1 seconds for the Model S Plaid, and 3.2 seconds for the Model S), console-grade in-car gaming, sublime sound and more. It offers industry-leading safety features and unrivalled performance, range and efficiency. Its dual motor all-wheel drive supports a range of 652 kilometres.

Model 3
Built for distance, the Model 3 travels 548 kilometres on a single charge, with optimised exterior styling to optimise aerodynamics. The all-new interior features wraparound styling that cocoons the occupants. Ambient lighting can be customised to the owner’s preferences

Model X
With the most power and quickest acceleration of any SUV, Model X Plaid is the highest performing SUV ever built. Updated battery architecture enables both Long Range and Plaid configurations to complete back-to-back track runs without performance degradation.

Model Y
The dual motor train of the Model Y delivers instant torque—and maximum dopamine—with a range of nearly 500 kilometers. It is also one of the safest vehicles on the road, with an extremely low chance of rollover and occupant injury. Active safety features reduce the risk of impact and prevent accidents from happening in the first place.

Maserati: Pretty in Pink

In the world of luxury automobiles, Maserati has always been synonymous with elegance, performance, and exclusivity. This year, at the Vancouver Auto Show, Maserati of Vancouver will showcase a vehicle that not only embodies these qualities but also adds a touch of pink glamour: Meet the Maserati Barbie Grecale.

The Grecale makes its debut adorned in a striking pink hue that sets this SUV apart. A fusion of the Barbie movie trend with Maserati’s luxury, this standout vehicle is derived from the Grecale Trofeo model, featuring a formidable 523hp and Nettuno V6 engine shared with the MC20 supercar and the latest GranTurismo.

Yet, what truly distinguishes this Barbie-themed Maserati is its exclusivity, with only two units in existence. The first graced the upscale Neiman Marcus, where it was auctioned for charity. The second remains a mystery, awaiting its grand reveal next year. Intriguingly, a replica currently captivates audiences at Maserati of Vancouver and will be a highlight at this year’s Auto Show, offering visitors a unique ‘Pretty in Pink’ photo opportunity.

In addition to the major BC Historic Race Weekend, August 10–12  there are seven SCCBC/VRCBC race weekends running through the summer months with two SCCBC driver schools each year.

Classic Mini Coopers

Car lovers know that collecting automobiles can become addicting; this is certainly the case for local BC resident, Nadir Ibadullah, who’s amassed a collection of 13 original Mini Coopers that he has restored over the years.

The inspiration behind Nadir’s classic mini car collection stems from a bittersweet memory of parting with his cherished Mini back home. Unfortunately, it met its fate at a scrap yard due to neglect, a fate that saddened him deeply. Determined to keep the Mini spirit alive, Nadir embarked on a journey to collect classic Minis here in Canada.

Nadir’s collection (NIMini Collection) is a homage to the iconic Mini, from Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal and Calgary. Spanning decades, from a 1962 Woody, 1969 MKII, 1977 Moke,1978 Pick Up,1979 Clubman 1275GT 1982 Pick Up,1986 Mini, 1987 Austin Mayfair, 1994 British Open Classic, 1994 Mini,1997 35 Anniversary, 1998 Balmoral LE, 1998 Rover, to 2000 Final Year. Each Mini represents a chapter in the Mini’s illustrious history.

What makes the classic Mini collection so special is its universal appeal. From young enthusiasts to seasoned collectors, the classic Mini brings a smile to everyone’s face. Nadir strives to spread smiles across neighborhoods and communities. It’s not just a car; it’s a race car, an economy car, a fun car, a collector’s item, a daily driver, and a showpiece all rolled into one.

Be sure to check out this Classic Mini Cooper display at this year’s Vancouver Auto Show!
